Tungsten Alloy Crankshaft

The tungsten alloy crankshaft, sometimes casually abbreviated to crank, is the part of an engine, which translates reciprocating linear piston motion into rotation. A tungsten alloy crankshaft is a part that connects to the piston rods and the flywheel of a car. It changes the motion of the pistons to power the vehicle. The tungsten alloy crankshaft is the part that will makes the piston motion rotate. This engine part connects to the flywheel, and uses crank throws that connect the connecting rods to the cylinders.

The rods and bearings connects the piston to tungsten alloy crankshaft, when the piston moves up and down, the tungsten alloy crankshaft is moved as describing a circle by the rods and bearings, then, tungsten alloy crankshaft is rotating.

Advantages for Tungsten Alloy Crankshaft

It is necessary to provide counterweights for the reciprocating mass of each piston and connecting rod to improve balance in engines, and these are typically cast as part of tungsten alloy crankshaft. Lead is cheap but the density is much lower than tungsten heavy alloy, and it is not environmental friendly, as for steel, tungsten alloy crankshaft are more than twice the density of it, so compared with other materials, tungsten alloy crankshaft is certainly considered t as the most appropriate crankshaft material for its properties as follows:

*Small volume but high density

*Excellent hardness

*Superior wearing resistance

*Good corrosion resistance

*Wonderful Shock resistance

*High melting point

*High temperature resistance

*Environmental friendly

Therefore, tungsten alloy crankshaft parts can be used as counterweight in machines and vessels as well as aircraft, ships, yachts, space shuttles and anywhere need much heavy but little space, tungsten alloy crankshaft is widely used in high-performance engines (automobile, racing car, motor, fan, diesel, truck, yacht, jet, fan etc.)

What's Tungsten Alloy Counterweight

Tungsten heavy alloy is becoming more and more popular for counterweight, balance weights for flywheels, ballast for F1 formula car, racing weights, dynamic balancing, etc. It is the best material of tungsten alloy for the balancing weight, and has been widely known and applied.

Drivers consistently report they can sense differences in how a car handles on the track if the weight on a given wheel varies only by a couple of pounds. Fine tuning a car to a given track is a very cumbersome and time consuming ordeal with conventional lead plate weights. tungsten alloy weight blocks offer up to 50% more weight in a given volume, with the added advantages of direct attachment via threaded holes or thru-bolting and the freedom from deformation. The high density of WHAs permit weights to be placed in the lower half of NASCAR weight adjustment tubes, effectively lowering the overall center of gravity for improved handling. Tungsten product has a specialized line of racing weights for these applications.

Tungsten heavy alloy (WHA) balance weight of racing car is now becoming the most popular material for ballast, due to its main advantages as follows:

Highest density
Adding Tungsten heavy alloy balance weight into the whole framework of a racing car is helpful to optimize the performance of the racing car during the racing progress, which contributes to the better control of the car's movement.

High tensile strength and good creep resistance
Tungsten has high tensile strength and good creep resistance with a high mass/size ratio, so it will be the ideal to work in a restricted space. Its high density also gives enhanced sensitivity by increasing the control of load distribution.

Machined Easily
Tungsten heavy alloy is also easily machineable which gives designers greater flexibility in deciding on the final shape of components and offer designers several advantages over conventional balance materials e.g. lead or steel.

How To Make A Tungsten Putty Carp Rig

ANGLER’S MAIL is No.1 for fishing tips and tricks! Here’s one from contributor Andy Browne on making a tungsten putty rig for a critically balanced hook bait.

I prefer to use a fairly stiff hook link material, in this case 25 lb ESP Two Tone in silt colour.

This material comes in three different colours to match the terrain that you’re fishing over – Silt, Weed and Gravel – and consists of tightly woven Dyneema core with a translucent polymer coating, ensuring that it sinks well. The outer coating is stiffer than most braids, allowing the hook length to be kicked off the lead, so when a fish picks up the bait there is always a fast contact with the lead.

In recent months a new company called Taska has appeared on the market with quite a few innovative rig components. They make a number of products in their Baseline range which are impregnated with tungsten.

Taska’s Tungsten Aligners, which are pre-formed and hold their shape well, make critically balancing baits a lot easier to achieve, and the aligner does the normal job of making the hook turn over quicker in the fish’s mouth.

The aligners can be trimmed with a pair of scissors so that you can adjust the weight to critically balance the hook bait so that it will look identical to the bottom baits, but will react in a different way when picked up. The aligners come in two sizes to suit different sizes of hooks.

I terminate my rigs using a link loop using a five-turn grinner knot, eased up slowly with a bit of moisture, which will give you a knot strength over the stated breaking strain of the Two Tone material. Using a link loop like this makes changing your hook length simple and quick and allows you to use a PVA stick if you later decide to.

Using some Baseline putty, tear off a blob and divide equally into two – wrap around the hook length and roll between finger and thumb so that you produce what almost looks like a small olivette.

Here’s how the completed rig should look.

Tungsten Putty

Tungsten putty is a material made from tungsten powder and a polymer binder, the minimum density of tungsten putty is 10 g/cm3.Tungsten Putty is non-hardening and easy to mold to any shape, so that you can have any design you want, and is easy to apply and will not dry out even after several weeks exposed to air and sunlight.

Tungsten putty is great for high density weighting, and it is very practical for fine tuning and last minute tweaks ,and various colors are provided.

Tungsten putty can be used for counterweighing Pinewood Derby, Awana and Royal Ranger car and can precision control over location and amount placed on the car as it is soft physical properties.

Then tungsten putty also use as fishing sinker. Improved tungsten sink putty sinks faster than lead to get your nymphs down fast. Unlike shot where it's a fixed weight, with tungsten putty, you can choose how balanced you want it and shape any size per water depth and volume.

Tungsten Putty Advantages

Someone says "solid or pure Tungsten" does not mean it really is. Tungsten by itself is an unstable material, and can be with a bonding alloy of nickel, copper, iron or a combination of them, when mixed with a polymer binder, tungsten putty come out.

Tungsten is a metal with one of the highest densities weighing in at 1.7 times heavier than lead, only gold, platinum, and a few other rare metals have a similar density. Tungsten is also non-toxic and environmentally friendly, so it is safe for children and adults to handle and work with. While remember that tungsten putty is not a toy or food, keep it away from your mouth and wash hands after handling.

Tungsten weights

High Density Tungsten Alloy worm weights are made from clean metal. environment protection.
A fishing sinker or plummet is a weight used to force a lure or bait to increase its rate of sink, anchoring ability, and/or casting distance. Fishing sinkers may be as small as 1/32 of an ounce for applications in shallow water, even smaller for fly fishing applications, or as large as several pounds or considerably more for deep sea fishing. They are formed into nearly innumerable shapes for diverse fishing applications. Environmental concerns surround the usage of most fishing sinker materials.

A jig is a type of fishing lure that usually consisting of a lead sinker with a hook molded into it and usually covered by a soft body to attract fish. However, recently, tungsten alloy sinker is becoming more and more popular among angles because it has the features of high density, small volume, and environmental friendly, and has been taking place of the lead sinker. Jigs are intended to create a jerky, vertical motion, as opposed to spinnerbaits which move through the water horizontally. The jig is very versatile and can be used in both salt water as well as fresh water. Many species are attracted to the lure which has made it popular amongst anglers for years.

The product is made by rare metal – Tungsten, it is an ideal substitute of the lead fishing sinker. It’s strong adhesive, semi-solid state, soft for a long term. Tungsten Heavy Alloys concentrate maximum weight in the smallest possible space. They are more often to be used as counterweight in sporting field, such as fishing sinkers, golf weights, etc.

Tungsten weights are an ideal, environmentally friendly alternative to lead weights, which are toxic and increasingly being labeled an environmental hazard. They are harder than steel and extremely dense, tungsten being on average 30 percent smaller than its lead counterpart. Meanwhile, they are smaller than conventional weights, create twice the sound of lead weights and maintain their shape for longer. Tungsten is also used in the production of other fishing applications, such as tungsten-carbid

Tungsten Alloy Fishing Weights

An ideal material for a fishing sinker is environmentally acceptable, cheap and dense. Density is desirable as weights must be as small as possible, in order to minimize visual cues which could drive fish away from a fishing operation.

In ancient times as well as sometimes today, fishing sinkers consisted of materials found ordinarily in the natural environment, such as stones, rocks, or bone. Later, lead became the material of choice for sinkers due to its low cost, ease of production and casting, chemical inertness (resistance to corrosion), and density. However, lead is known to cause lead poisoning and enter the environment as a result of the inevitable occasional loss of fishing sinkers during routine fishing.[3] Thus, most lead-based fishing sinkers have been outlawed in the United Kingdom, Canada, and some states in the United States. Lead based fishing sinkers are banned in all of US and Canadian National Parks.[3] These bans have motivated the use of various other materials in sinkers.

Steel, brass, and bismuth sinkers have been marketed, but fishermen have not widely adopted them due to their lower density and higher cost compared to lead. Sandsinkers have also been developed, using sand as weight. However, sand has a comparably low density to that of lead and makes a poor replacement. Tungsten is now in use, especially among largemouth bass fishermen. Although several times costlier than lead, tungsten is just under twice as dense as lead and thus found desirable. The environmental effects of tungsten, however, are essentially unknown.[4]

More recently, terminal tackle manufacturers are experimenting with high density composite resins. These materials present a non-toxic alternative to lead sinkers at a lower monetary cost than alternative metallic sinkers.

Advantages for tungsten alloy fishing sinkers/weights

*Small body
*High density
*Nuisance free
*Strong wind resistance
*International environment protection standard

The golf club head preferably has a length ranging from 2.0 inches to 3.0 inches, more preferably from 2.25 to 2.50 inches and mostpreferably 2.4 inches. The club head preferably has a height ranging from 1.25 inches to 1.75 inches, more preferably from 1.35 inches to1.50 inches and most preferably 1.42 inches.

Golf clubs are typically composed of titanium or steel, and either cast or forged. Changsha Mingguan can offer the golf club head injected with tungsten alloy which is much heavier.

Tungsten-With the specific gravity of 19.5, tungsten (W) is roughly 2.5 times heavier than steel, and a little more than 4 times heavier than titanium. This material has been known for its filament applications for a long time. But for golf clubs, it is primarily used as weight for shifting the center of gravity lower and/or deeper, and/or for the perimeter design. Also, the metal is used for golf balls either for the core or as powder for the composite layer underneath the cover.

Numerous techniques have been used for weighting golf club heads in order to gain better performance. In the club heads, weights were attached to the sole in order to lower the center of gravity. Usually we use a tungsten alloy screw in the sole of each titanium club head body to vary the weight of the golf club head to improve the performance of the club.

Golf club head includes one or more balance weights for swing balancing the golf club. The balance weight is selected from a plurality of balance weights and mounted in a weight cavity formed in the golf club head. Tungsten alloy golf screw plays an important role in properly balancing golf head.

Numerous techniques have been used for weighting golf club heads in order to gain better performance. In persimmon wood club heads, weights were attached to the sole in order to lower the center of gravity. The first metal woods hadsufficient weight, however, the weight distribution deterred slightly from performance. The refinement of hollow metal woods with weighting on the sole improved upon the performance of these clubs. We use a tungsten screw in the sole of each titanium club head body to vary the weight of the golf club head.

We can offer golf club head with a sole component entirely composed of a tungsten alloy material. We adopt the method of Metal Injection Molding, making an entire golf club head composed of a metal injection molded material having a tungsten alloy composition.

Tungsten Heavy Alloy

Tungsten Heavy Alloy products are offered as machinable blanks or as precision machined parts to customer specification and used in many different applications as listed below.

Tungsten Heavy Alloy Ballast Weight
Tungsten Heavy Alloy is superior to lead in terms of durability, dimensional stability, density and low toxicity. Tungsten Heavy Alloy does not suffer from the radioactivity or high chemical reactivity of depleted uranium.

Aircraft counterbalance weights and inertial masses
Tungsten Heavy Alloy has been the preferred material in the aerospace industry for many years as counterbalance weight for ailerons, rudders, and elevator parts for fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Tungsten Heavy Alloy weights are typically machined to precise tolerances and are provided with a protective coating to the customer specification.

Down hole well logging casings and weights
Well logging is widely used in the oil and gas industry for the characterization of wells (formation analysis) and in the positioning of downhole equipment. Tungsten Heavy Alloy is an excellent casing material for down hole logging of oil and gas. Mechanical properties are very significant to the survivability of these rather large components.

Bucking Bars
Tungsten Heavy Alloy bucking bars are denser than steel, resulting in a bucking bar of the same weight but half the size. Bucking bars are used in rivet setting to upset the shank of the rivet. Tungsten Heavy Alloy bucking bars reduce the recoil when reflecting the impact back to the rivet shank.

Racing weights for chassis and skid plates
Tungsten Alloy is used by professional racing teams to fine-tune the chassis in a variety of racing forums. Tungsten Heavy Alloy offers up to 50% more weight in a given volume, with the added advantages of direct attachment via threaded holes and the freedom from deformation.

Boring bars and high stiffness tooling
The combined high density, high elastic (Young’s) modulus, and machinability of Tungsten Heavy Alloy make them ideal materials for chatter free boring bars and grinding quills. High extension rations are possible due to the high stiffness of this material. The high density of Tungsten Heavy Alloy makes for effective inertial damping of cutting induced vibration. Grade HA170 or HA175 Tungsten Heavy alloy are most commonly used.

Sporting goods for firearms and golf clubs
Tungsten Heavy Alloy concentrates maximum weight in the smallest possible space. Use in golf clubs and tennis rackets increases the sweet spot size and adds the stability while reducing shock and vibration for increased power and control. Counterbalance fine tuning and inertial masses to shift through center of gravity.

Ordnance
Tungsten Heavy Alloy has been used in high density fragmenting devices and armor piercing ammunition rounds.

High Energy Radiation Shielding
Applications include Collimators for the Medical Industry, Shielding Blocks, Oil Well Logging Tools and Instrumentation and Nuclear Equipment. Tungsten Heavy Alloy is an excellent material for use in Radiation shielding (high energy photonic). Grades HA180 and HA185 are most popularly used for this application. These alloys are excellent materials for shielding and collimation due to their combination of radiographic density, machinability, strength, and low toxicity. Tungsten Heavy Alloy offers a superior protection level to lead in an equivalent thickness and, unlike lead, resists deformation and can be accurately fastened.

How To Tie Fishing Weights

Many fishermen incorporate weights, or fishing sinkers, into their fishing gear. Weights are commonly used to keep bait on a certain place on the fishing line. This is especially convenient for individuals looking to catch a specific type of fish that may only dwell in certain areas of the water. Weights are either slid or crimped onto a fishing line. Weights that are slid onto the line and often tied into place so that the weight doesn't slide during fishing. Tying this weight onto the line is fairly straightforward and requires just a few easy steps for it to be securely fastened to the fishing line.

Steps
Find your fishing weight. There are numerous sizes, shapes and types of fishing weights to choose from. Visit your local bait and tackle or hardware store to find your weight.

Choose the size and type of weight designed for the type of fishing you're planning on doing. The outside of the package on the weight should let you know what type of fishing it is designed for.

Purchase fishing line. Make sure your fishing line is strong enough to support a weight, it should be written on the package if it is designed for heavy duty wishing equipment.

Slide your weight onto the line through the opening in the top of the weight. Slide the weight to the desired level of your line. For example, if you're bottom fishing, you will want to leave the weight near the end of the line.

Place a piece of rubber band along the line just beneath where you want the weight to be. Hold it securely until you are ready to fasten it to the line.

Take the open end on the line and securely wrap it around the rubber band with approximately five loops. Begin this process near the bottom of the rubber band and work your way upward.

Take the open end on the line and securely wrap it around the rubber band with approximately five loops. Begin this process near the bottom of the rubber band and work your way upward.

Use a pair of scissors to trim the end of the line extending from the knot, if needed. If you decide to do this leave at least 1/8-inch of line extending from the knot.

Types Of Fishing Sinker

A large variety of sinkers exist which are used depending on the fish being pursued, the environment, the current and personal preference.

Pyramid sinkers
Pyramid sinkers are shaped like a pyramid and are used when it is desirable to anchor on the bottom of water bodies. They are attached to the terminal end of fishing line by loops of Rass.

Barrel or egg sinkers
Barrel or egg sinkers are rounded and often bead-like with a narrow hole through which fishing line is threaded. These sinkers are desirable on rock or debris covered substrates.

Split-shot sinkers
Split-shot sinkers are small and round with a split cutting halfway through the sinker. The split can be placed on a piece of fishing line and then crimped closed. This feature makes adding and removing the weights easy and quick.

Bullet sinkers
Bullet sinkers are bullet-shaped and used widely in largemouth bass fishing for rigging plastic worms "Texas-style".

Dipsey
Dipsey sinkers are ovate or egg-shaped and are attached to the fishing line with a loop of brass wire embedded in the sinker.

Bank sinker
Bank sinkers are long and ovate and have a small hole at the top for the fishing line to thread through.

A Short History of Darts

The sport of darts began as training in the martial arts, (well, the martial art of archery). Darts began in Medieval England. Historians surmise, because they don't know for certain, that those teaching archery shortened some arrows and had their students throw them at the bottom of an empty wine barrel.

The fact that the bottom of an empty wine barrel was used is a clue to how the game developed into a pastime. It is thought that the soldiers took their shortened arrows with them to the local drinking establishment to both exhibit their skill and have fun at the same time. When the bottoms of wine barrels proved to be inconvenient or in short supply, some inventive dart thrower brought in a cross-section of a moderate sized tree.

The "board" provided rings, and when it dried out, the cracks provided further segmentation. This cracked and dried board began to evolve into what we think of as the current dart board.

A game as fun as darts could not be hidden from the upper classes and they soon put their own stamp on the game. The oft-married Henry VIII was reputed to enjoy the game immensely. So much so, that he was given a beautifully ornate set by Anne Boleyn.

Like much of American History, the roots of darts in America can be traced to the Pilgrims. These hardy colonizers were reputed to have played the game on the Mayflower as it made its ocean crossing. Like the game of horseshoes, it was then played avidly in America whenever leisure time was available.

Darts
However, darts remained largely an Anglo-American sport until the Victorian age when it was spread world-wide by the great expansion of the British Empire. It seems that the "sun never set on the British Empire". At the same time, there was never a time when a dart was not in the air. Many native populations were exposed to the game and found enjoyment in it.

Around 1900 the rules and darts began to settle into what they are today. Yet according to Christopher G. Carey, author of American Darts Organization Book of Darts, "The international throwing line of 7 ft. 9 1/4 inches was established in the 1970s to make it standard for international competitions; depending on the country (or at times, even the venue), the throwing line was anywhere from 7 ft 6 in. to 8 ft. Also, throughout the early part of the 20th century, there were many different types of dartboards until the 'clock' board became the standard...It really wasn't until after WWII that many of the rules of darts became standardized." Now people all around the world can enjoy the sport of darts in international competitions, in leagues, or in private parties and all be on an equal footing.

So the next time you put your toe to the line and raise a dart to the board, remember that there is a rich history behind this engrossing sport.

Selecting A Set Of Darts

When you set out to buy your first set of darts, it may seem like a pretty simple task. They’re just darts, right? It can’t be that complicated. On the contrary, there are several things to take into account to find the right set of darts.

To the beginner, all the terminology, options, and variety can be a little daunting. Many people aren’t aware that dart components can be purchased separately, allowing the player to build darts to suit personal preference and skill level. The good news is we’re here to help.

Darts vary widely in quality, and therefore, in cost. Before you select a set of darts, you should have a basic understanding of what’s available and how each component of the darts functions. This will allow you to make the best choice without falling for any sales gimmicks and without spending more than necessary.

Tungsten Fishing Weights Sensitivity

Until the last several years, weights were weights. You would buy lead weights and fish with them and never realize that there could be a product that really makes a difference when worm fishing. Worm weights are extremely sensitive because they are smaller, smoother and slip through snags with ease.

The Tungsten product has revolutionized the art of worm fishing. You can now sense the bottom structure. Your ability to distinguish between sand, gravel, rock, mud and wood is now much easier than ever before. With the traditional lead weight, unless you went really heavy everything felt the same. And as we all know, bottom structure is very important to catching fish. In fact spawn and hot summer fishing is all about bottom structure on Guntersville.

The other advantage is bait penetration in heavy cover. So many times over the years while flipping with lead weights, you would think that your bait is on the bottom and it isn't because its caught up in weeds. The smaller size and the extremely polished finish of a Tungsten weight allows it to slip through heavy grass or cover and get to the bottom with ease. The weights also come in six colors to match most soft plastic colors. That makes your bait look more realistic in the water.

If you haven't experienced the tungsten advantage its time you do so. You will find that fish-catching ability overcomes the added cost for those products, and you're putting more bass in the boat.

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Tungsten Fishing Weights

Tungsten fishing weights are becoming more popular among fishermen for many reasons.  A good percentage of tournament pros are now using tungsten 100% of the time because of its many advantages. Here are some of the positive characteristics of tungsten fishing weights.

Advantages:

1.Tungsten weights are smaller in size and denser in weight.

2.Tungsten produces more sound under water.

3.It has better feel on under water objects.

4.Produces a smaller bait profile in the water.

5.Does not have the toxic characteristics of lead.

Disadvantages:

The only disadvantage we have found is tungsten is much more expensive than lead.

In today's quickly changing fishing tackle market, there are many different brands of tungsten weights and sinkers to choose from. They can be found in local shops and tackle stores like Soddy Custom Tackle and Sportsman Warehouse.

If you have not tried tungsten, you will love the feel and its ability to improve your fishing.
